Celebrating our Freedom

I used to be married to a guy that liked this blog. And to prove his love, he would B.L.O.G. This made me very happy because it took the pressure off me to keep up. I hate to write and am bad at it. He loves to write and gets paid to do it so he must be good. I am crappy at taking pictures. He loves to tweak with my crappy pictures. It was true love. I am still married to the man, maybe he is proving his love in some other way. Like frying bacon. Yummy bacon.

Anyway. My Dad came to town over the 4th of July and we celebrated by working our butts off for 12 hours on Saturday. We built this. Technically, when he left all the walls were up and the roof was on. I got the idea/plans from Ana at knock-off wood.

Everyone helped. My Dad rocks. My son loves to use the drill. Taeg' will eat A.N.Y.T.H.I.N.G. Yes, anything includes peanut shells that the previous owner from 300 years ago put down in the flower bed. Travis hates the drill or any other wicked awesome loud power tool and so does Langy. They both tried to escape the noise and crawl up in the fetal position when the miter saw turned on. Ok, ok, I lied. Travis helped a lot, unless it required the use of a tape measure then he resumed the fetal position with Langdon.

Karsten, Taegan, Langdon and I have been working on it almost everyday since and we are still NOT done. It did look like this.

There is trim work still to be done. and some shingles. and a lot of sanding. and a rail. and more paint. and more cutting. and staining. and a telescope. and some sand. But until then it looks like this...
You would think that I would at least have a farmers tan to show for my efforts. Nope. Nothing. I swear that since I have turned 30 my skin repels the sun. I believe that I actually get whiter when the sun comes out. Anyway. I love having a project. I really like this Clubhouse. But, I believe it may become a money pit. Wouldn't a pool or at least a trampoline be awesome, so you could jump from the roof? How about a dumbwaiter under the house that you could climb into and then it would lift you up through the clubhouse floor? or a zip line? Or a pole to slide down when your too lazy to use the ladder, zip line, dumbwaiter, rope ladder, or climb on the roof and jump off. Maybe it just needs it's own electrical panel so Trav' can hook up a hot plate and fry me some bacon.

Yay for America where I can eat bacon and build a mini house behind my real house for my kids to live in.

I love the clubhouse. This kids will have so much fun with it. I like the idea of a zip line. We have talked about doing one with a tree house in our cedar trees. However, I think our kids would be happy if we ever get our current basement project done.

By the way you always have great posts on the blog.

Sheesh, I'm being called out for not blogging?! Perhaps I'm revealing too much, but I'm thinking of switching body washes. Swan dive into the best night of your life! I wonder if it smells like bacon...

I have a feeling you're going to be getting a lot of visitors now that we know about your sweet mini-house. I want to play in it!! I like ALL of your ideas and think you must do them all! Especially the bacon part and anything involving water. Water and a trampoline. And zip lines.

Tate keeps saying "bacon!", but I can't figure out what he's talking about yet. He won't touch actual bacon. He seems to be gesturing towards the books, but requests it when he's resisting naptime or bedtime. Anyway, it's very mysterious.

So my point is, give Taeg some bacon. And hide some vegetables among the flowers. Maybe she'll eat them =)

les- thanks you are too kind. but you are related so you have to be!

Trav- come on! I was eating my Dad's father's day gift that I forgot to give him. Now there is black licorice bits all over the 'puter screen because I was laughing so hard.

Right on! I LOVE the club house, my kids would think they died and went to heaven. How fun!! I say, yes, yes, yes, to all those additions, add a slide down into the pool, jumping will inevitably end up with a broken limb.
As for the bacon, get the precooked stuff and just reheat it in the microwave, it rocks. Your house won't stink afterward and you won't be cleaning grease off your stove.

Travis, when did you turn into an African American and have time to pose for body wash ads? I'm so into that second home of yours. I'm sure Karst will want to play hide and seek in it which may be a challenge but maybe we could wear blindfolds.

Love T's comment, so hilarious! Aric has those commercials tivo'd...Love your blog...and Love, Love, Love the mini house! How lucky are you to have such a handy dad. I am so glad that I am not the only one addicted to projects. Yesterday I decided I need a real tool belt, I'm designing one...for now it's in my head. If it ever comes to fruition I will make one for you too!
