Dumb Olympic Events (Part III)

When my brother and I were young, we once decided to convene our own ice hockey game in Grandma's basement. We didn't have any ice or hockey equipment, so we made do with our parents' putters and a tennis ball. After some intense competition, we had some bruised shins and some bent-up golf clubs. It turns out we were unwittingly participating in an Olympic sport -- field hockey.

Tyler and I had a lot of fun (at least until our parents learned what we had done to their putters). But the Olympic version is more like a chiropractor's dream; their sticks are apparently custom-made for small children mashing a tennis ball in Grandma's basement. We could only take a few moments of hunched-over athletes before we had to fast forward to women's beach volleyball (which Travis admittedly watches, but only for the articles).
